Coto de Caleruega Roble 2024
TECHNICAL FILE
VARIETIES
96% Tempranillo (fine red wine) + 4% Merlot
PREPARATION AND AGING
It comes from high-altitude vineyards with silty-clay soils on conglomerates, seeking a fresh and easy-drinking profile. Vinification is carried out with gentle macerations at low temperatures. Fermentation takes place in small stainless steel tanks, where it is carefully controlled to preserve the aromas of red and black fruits, with hints of licorice characteristic of Tempranillo and a touch of Merlot expression, which softens the tannins. Malolactic fermentation takes place in the same tanks, followed by racking to separate the lees. It is then aged for three months in 225-liter oak barrels, which lends complexity and roundness to the wine.
TASTING NOTES
A fresh, medium-bodied wine with vibrant acidity. Its color is intense cherry red with violet hues. Aromas of red and black forest fruit, and a subtle hint of spice from the barrel aging. The palate is smooth, sweet, and persistent, with a good balance between fruit and oak.
FOOD PAIRING
Ideal for pairing with all kinds of dishes: appetizers, fish, rice dishes and white or grilled meats.
